I am just wondering if you can write to a creditor to ask for a debt to be written off.
Any ideas?

You COULD write to a creditor to ask for a debt to be written off, but I doubt they would say yes.
You could instead try writing to them to ask for an arrangement to pay. Include your Statement of Affairs (Soa) and what you can actually afford to pay each month and offer them this instead.0 -
what sort of reason could I ask them why I want the debt written off?0

Not your debt. No signed credit agreement... Debt is made up of charges not in the original credit agreement.... Do you have any ideas that you would like to share?what sort of reason could I ask them why I want the debt written off?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

When I worked at Capital One, debts were usually only written off in extreme cases - eg serious illness/disability, things like that.
My friend's Mum had 6 debts with Reliable Collections written off due to harrassment that was so extreme police were involved.

As the others have said, this only happens in extreme cases and you have not indicated if there is a problem. I'd also imagine it would be more difficult in the current climate to get debts written off, but you can always ask.If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.
