You should notice a difference.

Also try and seal any draughts. Fairly cheap to do. With windows draughts are sometimes around the window where it meets the wall. Pointing in mastic can help (there is an art in applying it. Practice on the shed first! Needs steady pressure and movement. If you get stuck washing up liquid, water and run your finger down it.)

All buildings need some ventilation but not where we don't want it!

If you have big windows, heavy curtains do help at night. Letterbox also.

Cutting down draughts does make a real difference. I have lived in a Victorian House where you could see the carpet rise in windy nights. :eek:

We were in B&Q on Sunday and they had rolls of loft insulation on sale. £3 for a triple roll of the value loft insulation, and £5 for a triple of the space blanket stuff. I think you needed 8-10 packs to insulate a typical 3bed semi, so getting the materials for about £30-40 was a good deal.

People were going mad for the stuff- it was comical seeing people try steer trolleys that they couldn't see over and outside people trying to squash these into cars boots and trailers and this during the biggest down pour I've seen in a while. I guess a lot of people are gearing up for winter.
