Hi,
anyone know where I might find a decent apple press and/or apple crusher? I'm happy to consider new or second hand. I've got a few apples and would like to try turning them into cider this year.
Thanks!

uhm....a hammer??
You could try getting in touch with the Northern Ireland branch of CAMRA, http://www.camrani.org.uk/ or there is a small cider making company called Toby's cider in Armagh who might point you in the right direction. http://www.tobyscider.co.uk/
If you need a [STRIKE]guinea pig[/STRIKE] tester I would reluctantly volunteer!0 -
Thanks for that Revpeachy. I understand and appreciate the sacrifice you would be making!0

there was a full page ad for machinemart in today's daily express - i happened to notice a couple of fruit presses in it. might be worth a look.0

I have a book with plans for a simple cider press so if it's any good to you I can send you a copy.0

I have also seen the Machinemart adverts in the papers. Machinemart are usually quite good value, but I think even their presses look quite expensive, or lets say you would need to make a lot of cider to make it pay for itself.
Seems like somethong easily made if you are use a little ingenuity:

There is always a cider press at the Apple Day in Peatlands Park, outside Dungannon - if you give them a ring I am sure the staff would be able to point you in the right direction. They helped me source an apple peeler years ago!
I too am happy to offer my services as Cider tester by the way!DJWW - cos we won't let it!0 -
Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and offers - I'll explore them all. If I ever get some made, you're all welcome to taste!0
