Cheap Events Caterers (Well just Rolls really)

Options
I've got a big American Football game in Edinburgh on the 24th of Feb to organise and it involves about 100 kids playing (It's Scotland vs England) as a way to help them get through the day I'm trying to source a cheap way to feed them all after the game.

Not a hot meal buy I thought maybe a roll each or one of the baguette style rolls each would do the trick.

Considering we have very very little money to cover this I'm struggling to find someone to do the food. I know we could do them ourselves at home, but 100 is a little much and we'll be busy running around like idiots on the day away.

Can anyone recommend a cheap caterer or sandwich shop who could help out. We can offer free advertising in the program as part / full payment if you know somone personally who might be interested :)

I'd suggest the Potter Roll, it's just off Potterow, by nicolson street, though I'm not sure what their prices are like. Nice sandwiches and lovely soup too, plus they advertise outside catering. Worth a try.

Their address is 20 Marshall Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9BU and the phone number is 0131 622 7263.

    Have fun.

Cant you get some volunteers from the Mums? (or Dads?)A 100 might seem a lot but if really would not take too long. A visit to Costco or Asda. X rolls, cheese (buy pre grated if need be), Ham,a large tub of spread, some boxes multi pack crisps, multi pack chocolate bicuits, juice or water.(Costco do larger multi packs than Supermarkets). The only real time taken is the spread of the rolls and filling the rest they can help themselves. If you want to be really organised and have the time make up individual bags for easy lifting. Again the bags can be made up in advance with only the rolls going in at the last minute having been made up fresh! If no time for rolls what about some bananas and boxes of raisens along with crisps etc?

Caterers in my opinion can be quite costly !

  • I'd agree with Oscar here, been involved with many of this time of thing in the past although I'd suggest cheese slices rather than grated cheese.

A few people together the night before, provide a bottle or two of wine and set up a production line with one person buttering, one slicing tomatoes, couple to filling etc. You can even get rolls that are ready sliced these days and sandwich bags that just need to be folded over.
