My beloved SO said this morning that he wished we had some biscuits to dunk in his morning tea, so I said I'd bake some, he said I love you're biscuits but they don't dunk well, they're to soft
Please does anyone have any recipes for home made biscuits that will survive a thorough, repeated dunking?
TIA
Jill

Lucky you. My biscuits are always too hard/burnt for anyone to eat them at all! :rotfl: I seem to be absolutely unable to make them
I would try gingernuts, there's a nice Delia Smith recipe and they might be a bit tougher. here.
I don't know if this would work, but you could try baking the biscuits for another 2-3 minutes to make them harder, and using caster sugar instead of soft brown sugar in biscuit recipes.
I'm sure other people will have some impressive ideas.Old-styler, crafter and freebie junkie!Frogga's Amazing Weight Loss Campaign: Member no.20 since 2/9/07 -- lost 10lbWedding bells 04/10/08

I use Delia's recipe for gingernuts- as the one linked to by Money Bunny but without chocolate or cocoa.
You can play around with timings as Money Bunny says. We like them slightly chewy but just a couple of minutes longer and they're a lot harder.
(note they will be a bit soft when you first take them out of the oven but will harden as they cool)0 -
Depending on what kind of ingredients you are happy to use I would suggest the following

Does you SO have a favourite ?as that will help in choosing the best recipe. The idea seems to be that the biscuits still need to be soft when removed from the oven and then harden. Sometimes homemade biscuits do not have the right consistency for 'dunking'. I think it's a matter of trial and error !!
I may have some old fashioned recipe's around if you are interested. Let me know if you are and I will check and then email any I think may be of interst to you.0 -

He seems to like most shop bought biscuits, but he loves ginger so I'll have a go at the ginger nut recipe from Money~Bunny first.
Love the Bisuit site link thank you
Most of my previous recipes are based on cookie recipes which I think are softer.
Thanks again

Ooh, I've just found a page explaining what makes cookies/biscuits soft/hard/thin/chewy here clicky. Scroll down and look at the section called 'Why?' Might helpOld-styler, crafter and freebie junkie!Frogga's Amazing Weight Loss Campaign: Member no.20 since 2/9/07 -- lost 10lb

To be honest I am not sure. If you have an airtight then then maybe a week ?, lets face it good biccies won't be around longer than a few days anyway !!0 -
You could make up a big batch of the dough and freeze it in 1 week amounts then you'd just have to thaw out overnight and roll out and bake next day.0

I finally tried biscuits based on the Delia recipe (but using what I had in the house of course) and they've been nick-named 'poo biscuits' because of what they look like going into the oven!.
Actually they've turned out OK, so they've gone in my recipe book, and I'll be able to experiment a bit more the next time.
Thanks Everyone
