PVG scheme question

Hi
I'm in Scotland and successful in getting a job (non-teaching) at a local college pending clearance from PVG scheme. I've no criminal record, only a few driving convictions from the past. Can anyone tell me what offences would bar someone from this scheme and how far do they go back when they check you out?

Thanks in advance

  • Driving is fine on a CRB (I assume this is the equivalent) check. Sounds like you will have no problems
  • PVG is to check if you have some convictions/crminal records against vulnerable groups such as young children and old people. If you think you are clear then dont think you need to worry:-)

if driving is just speeding points etc you should be fine. If it is hit and run when drunk in a stolen vehicle, not so much safe...

New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.
  • Thanks for the replies, hopefully all should be OK.
  • Under the PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland will check all your previous convictions, both spent and unspent, along with any "information" held by the Police which may not have led to a charge or conviction. They will also check to see whether you are barred from working with children or protected aduls (if relevent)

Both you and your employer will receive copies of the disclosure certificate and it is up to your employer, as part of the recruitment process, to decide whether you are suitable or not
