Just in process of buying and have a mortgage offer from The Woolwich. Ours all went very smoothly (done via our Financial Advisor). I was worried when I read some of the stories on here but the offer was with us probably in 2-3 weeks of submitting, with text updates along the way.

Also read awful things about e-surv (the surveyors they and many other mortgage companies use) but have to say our homebuyers report was done quickly, efficiently and the report was helpful. I think the woolwich valuation fee is on the high side (but you know that when comparing different products).

Thought I'd post as you can get quite worried when you read things about various companies, but I suppose few people post when all goes smoothly.

After 3 months, they probably thought you weren't interested. ;)
If I were trying to sell a property, I certainly wouldn't wait 3 months to see whether or not the prospective buyer could raise the money.

When I applied for a mortgage through the woolwich, it took 14 days ... but it needs a little (not excessive), gentle pushing to keep the application moving forward :)

I can't believe they waited that long either, bless them. Luckily the property had people renting it so I don't think they were in a particular hurry.

Do you think that this will achieve something positive? Personally I know how I react to people who waste my time when at work.

It does seem to help as if they have a query or want to confirm something with you, your application goes into a queue before someone actually rings you to check. If you ring, they bring up your file and are able to clarify any issues there and then, so you avoid waiting in the "queue".

eeek I'll have to keep my fingers crossed the process speeds up from now on - don't think the vendor will hang around for three months!!
