Hi
My younger son is 8 in November and he really really loves maths, he is always counting things he sees, asking me to set him sums to do and has said he is going to be a rich banker in London and buy his step-dad a Ford Mustang... lol. I got him a Carol Vorderman maths activity book as something to do on rainy days this summer and he loves it, I had to actually say he can only do 2 pages a day as he would have done the whole book in one day!
I have got him something similar for his birthday but it's a National curriculum KS2 one which he will probably also enjoy.
I am wondering if there is anything I can buy him for Xmas that encourages his interest in maths, that is both fun and educational, without being too advanced (at his last parents evening in year 2 he was performing at the highest level expected of a year 3 child in maths)
So basically a maths based toy of some sort, does such a thing exist??
Thanks a lot

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
oooh Little Professor could be good
I had forgotten about him, but my friend used to have one and I always wanted one too.
He does have a DS, but rarely uses the educational games he has got, he is more likely to be playing a multi-player game with his brother e.g Lego, but will look at that game now.
I don't mind getting him a family game either, but he does get in a major sulk if I can't play a game with him RIGHT that minute.. lol, off to look at it now though

The Happy Puzzle Company may have some good maths games, they are often quite open ended and involve some element of problem solving.

Hi Sounds like my ds, he has asked for maths weights and scales for xmas! Have you looked at Fun learning. I'm unable to post a link as I have just re-registered. They have some lovely bits or even try some school based suppliers like TTS.
Good luck x0 -
Try him on sudoku, you may have to experiment to get the level right, but it is good for him to entertain himself. Logic puzzles are also good, but maybe too 'wordy' yet.
Monopoly is a good family game.0
