Hi, just had an offer for a house accepted but estate agent said untill I provide proof of a mortgage offer in principal and details of a solicitor then they wont put a "sold subject to contract" notice and withdraw the listing, is this normal as I thought if the offer was accepted it should at least have "offer accepted" or "Sold subject to contract" notice it.

Nope, you have to provide proof of AIP and deposit, when you get serious you'll have to provide the legal rep stuff.
Think about it, you've had an offer accepted but they may never see you again and the vendor may miss another punter?"We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
I'm normally rabid about 'estate agent pressure' and general shenanigans but this seems perfectly reasonable to me.
If the offer is made and accepted its now time for you to stand up and be counted - both the items they request seem reasonable to me and do-able this morning.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. ...but, if the seller trusts you and you can exchange information with them, they can refuse any more visits to look at the house.
In a way this is what a good seller would do, because it stops you being anxious about "losing the home". Try and arrange a visit and get talking to the seller!
We became friends with the seller of our house, going round a few times to "measure up" and they ensured that the Estate Agent didn't try to shaft us to get more comission (which always happens - Estate Agents are businesses after all!).0 -
thats fair enough - just concerned about being gazumped before getting everything in place.
I'll get on the case now - many thanks0 -

Getting a Decision in Principle should be doable today. Have you researched the market? Any lenders picked out?
Do you have a solicitor in mind?
Agents are being reasonable enough. Usually they would have you sat in front of their broker as a condition.
