I have just got my mortgage approved with Nationwide and they didn't request any bank statements.

They wanted last 3 payslips and P60 only

  • Hi thanks for your reply, I am more wondering if they do ask for them if online ones will be acceptable or not, or should I get original copies from my bank ready ?

Is your name on the statements when you print them? We just had this problem as the Natwest ones just had 'current account' on them, not an actual name. We then found out you could change 'current account' to anything, so we put our names on and problem was solved. Seems totally ridiculous as it prooved nothing. We could have put any name we liked on there.

In your position, I would get copy statements at the ready just incase.
  • My name is on the online versions
  • Give the mortgage team at NW a ring and ask?
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • Yes you can. I also bank with HSBC, and have a mortgage with nationwide. when you print the statements off it shows account details and IBAN number, which is apparently the important one.
  • I'd order the printed versions anyway so you have a backup - my online statements weren't accepted by my lender as they only showed my initials and surname instead of full name.
  • it's several years ago but they asked my wife for physical copies to get her mortgage but we are talking several years ago - it would make sense for them to accept other formats of a bank statement.

    Hope it helps.

  • I had similar problem with YBS, they accepted online copies given I had my payslips and P60 and they could clearly see my salary being paid into my current account

We applied for a Nationwide mortgage about 4 months ago and they did accept printouts of online statements. We were already existing mortgage customers, so maybe that makes a difference?
