CreditExpert Price Increase

Earlier this year I was a member of CreditExpert in order to view my Experian credit report. I was paying £7.99 per month. I then cancelled my membership thinking I didn't need it any more.
I now want to re-join to check my credit report again, but the monthly cost is now £14.99. This seems a ridiculous price increase.
According to their website, this price includes £6.40 for Identity Protection Insurance which I do not need. I have received an email from them saying that the Identity Protection Insurance is mandatory and I cannot join CreditExpert without it. This appears to be the main reason for the price increase.
Has anyone successfully joined CreditExpert without the Identity Protection Insurance, or were able to re-join paying their original monthly costs rather than the new prices?
Failing that, can anyone recommend any other credit report providers? I tried Equifax but they were nowhere near as good as CreditExpert (items that appeared on the CreditExpert credit report were not shown on the Equifax credit report).

The cost has gone up because it now includes the identity protection and you also get a credit 'score' included in the price (which used to be an extra £6ish). Which just makes it even more of a rip off than it used to be, and it was always a rip off.
Instead of signing up to an ongoing service you could just order your experian statutory credit report periodically (or even every month). At £2 a time it it a lot better value and has the same information in terms of the actual credit report, which is the useful part of what the £14.99 service gives you.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Wise advice by Tixy as always
You can request your credit report from all the Credit Reporting companies by post for a fee of £2 each.
Like Tixy said you can do these periodically, or if you want the information monthly pay £2 instead of the extortionate amount they want to charge.
Also with some cashback sites, you can get your credit report for free and get paid for requesting it, but you would not be able to do this monthly.0
