18 yr old & JSA

Junior has just left school after completing A levels and may be going to Uni next year.

Child Benefit has now stopped and he hasn't claimed JSA as although he's working under 16 hours, he earns more than the amount that JSA would pay out so there didn't seem any point.

Anyway he starts a full-time job on monday which is on a temp to permenant basis, but it means he can't keep his part-time job just in case.

In the worst case scenario and the full-time job doesn't work out, would he be able to claim JSA? (Having said that there is no way would either his dad or I would let him see this as an alternative to getting another job :))

depends why it wouldnt work out tbh. If he got sacked for example, then no, it would be sanctioned...
