How much do you want to spend? Do you know if they drink red or white?

Yes you should be ok at a tenner. A nice Rioja usually goes down well or Bordeaux. I think you can get a Chateuneuf du Pape for about £12.99.
Or if white then a nice french Sauvignon Blanc/Sancerre. Some people like Chardonnay but I'm not such a fan.

I would try to keep away from the big names like Hardys, Blossom Hill, Gallo, First Cape etc as they are always on offer and don't look that special prezzie-wise.

It's all opinion though and I'm sure people on here would disagree with me!!

I'm a White wine drinker, I don't like chadonnay either. Pinot grigio is my particular favourite xx

Find a little bit of joy in every day.

  • New Zealand wines are becoming very popular, fresh fruity flavours and not so heavy and creamy as some of the Aussie ones, they can be expensive though. I have noticed that Sainsbugs are stocking more varieties and they are regularly on special offer - so you may get a couple of bottles for £10.00.

I was lucky enough to go to NZ earlier this year to visit relatives, so I may be a bit biased.

I'd go along with eleanor and the Rioja choice.
Have a look at Faustino V - normally just over £10, but only ever buy it at the £5 - £6 mark when on offer.
The Faustion VII (red) is only £6.47 and £6.28 for the white Rioja at ASDA - could stretch to one of each for under £13.

You can get a LOVELY bottle of Chablis (white) for under £10.
  • I second faustino if your going for red, either one, it's OHs fave. Mine is prosecco, the manzanilla or similar name was on offer for 6.50 in tesco, might not be anymore. Prosecco is bubbly so more of a treat feel to it!

Just been to ASDA and they've just put the Faustino VII on offer at £4 per bottle for both red and rose.........fantastic price for this wine.
