They used to be nice laptops but now they have horrid 14 inch screens and rubbishy batteries with a last gen dothan cel-m 3xx processor. Avoid this go for a inspiron 1501 which looks better and performs better for 50 quid.0

And the 1501 has a 15.4" widescreen...0

OMG!! How does £299 ex VAT and shipping become £505 inclusive?? I didn't even change the spec! £60 FOR DELIVERY?!?!?!?!

Stay with the 90 days cover. I also bought the higher power battery when I got mine for under £300 about 8mths ago. I use AVG antivirus (the free one). In my opinion the Inspiron 1300 is a sound machine, I worried about memory etc but I shouldn't have because for my home use it is fast enough - in fact I think it is ace.:hello:0

this is back on again

this is a better deal than the last few ceap offers . as the original poster spec shows it has 512mb of ram, the last one was only 256mb, 512 is adequate for almost everything you could do on this machine

That directed at me?SaverSarah wrote:And the 1501 has a 15.4" widescreen...
A 14" widescreen is too small and you get a horid ulgy plasticy bezel arround it. A 15.4" widescreen is a very nice size to work with and bezel is a lot thinner. The 1300 used to hav a 15.4 but since dell released the 1501 they took it off. Trust me, a 1501 is a much better buy and will last longer.
EDIT: @amancalledchip - My issue is the dell 1300 is exactly the same size as a 15.4" laptop, as that is the screen size it was desgined for. Dell put a 14" screen in it to cut costs and it looks silly with the thick bezel.0 -
i have an IBM thinkpad with a 14 inch screen, and its more portable that the dell 6000 i have that has the 15.4 inch widescreen. The dell seems just big and clumsey in comparision. But that just my personal experience.
I love my ibm, but it only runs of the mains now since my 2 year old thought it would like a large glass of lemonade.0 -
I know they say there is only 90 day warranty, but surely this would not stand up in court?? any decently well built device fit for purpose should last longer? An eye for eye, and we'll all be blind - Mahatma Ghandi

The 90 day relates to collect and return, you have the full warranty, but to collect and return after 90 days is at your cost.Welcome, rogerramjet.
