carbon credits- SCAM??

HI- this is my first post so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong place or whatever.
I have been contacted by a company based in London asking me if I'd like to invest in buying carbon credits.
They are telling me I will be able to nearly double my money within a year- here is a quote from their website-
Carbon trading may dwarf that of Crude Oil WITHIN 5 YEARS – Worth 2 Trillion” - US Commodity Futures Trading
I would like to know if anyone has any experience of this - i.e if it is just another scam!

If a company could double their money, why would they need to cold call strangers? If you want to invest speak to a IFA, if you want to get scammed hand over your details to cold callers.

I would research carbon credits in general before you commit any funds.

It's a pretty contested subject.

Sounds pretty dodgy to me. Can't think of anything at the moment where you can double your money without huge risks being involved!!!
