knocked up a batch of flapjacks which cooked whilst oven was on for dinner :)
got some pitta's out of freezer that were reduced for tommorow's lunches and noticed they had mould on them so they went in the bin. Grrr :(

I am going to do a store cupboard shop with my £9 off a £60 shop voucher. I will have to start thinking of inventive places to 'hide' all the surplus stocks in the house.

  • Spent £15 in Sainsburys on puppy food and puppy pads, plus milk, free campbells soup, eggs, split peas and split green peas, mushrooms and basics mash. The basics mash was 19p last week and tonight it was 39p! Also got some reduced stir fry veg and organic lettuce. Then went into Farmfoods and got bread, kitchen roll, Youngs beer battered fish and bottled water, which came to £9. Have updated signature and am already over half way through budget already.

Made a big pasta bake tonight for tomorrow night's dinner, and there should be leftovers for lunches for a couple of days. I also have half a chicken to use up so will do a curry on Thursday.

I saw on the news tonight that school dinners now cost £16 a week. That is an awful lot - mine have always taken a packed lunch and it costs me less than that for sure. IT also said that more and more people were in fuel poverty with average monthly bills now being £134 a month. I only live in a three bed semi and my gas and electricity has gone up to £194 a month:eek: and I am careful and haven't put the heating on yet, plus I don't have a tumble dryer.

    Evening all :)

I'm adding £11.39 to the total - hoped-for Mon/Tues NSDs have not happened.

Spent £10 today on a couple of pairs of cheap jogger bottoms for Him Indoors, for use over the winter [he works p/t from home and spends the warmer months with a fan going full blast complaining about being too hot, the cooler months feeling too cold during the day, and has about 2 days in the spring and autumn when, Three Bears-style, it's 'just right' :rotfl:]. Anyway, they've come out of the GC budget for now, because I had that tenner on me at the time - I may take it back before the month's end and find another tenner to cover it.

£1.39 at Mr S yesterday mostly on yellow-sticker things - bagels [yum!] and a couple of packs of cocktail sausages, which, being already cooked, are very useful. Him Indoors loves them, so when cooking, say, pasta or stir-fry, once I've dished up my veggie version, I chuck some of the sausages in the pan for a minute to heat through so he can have a bit of meat in his. A cheap little trick that brings him great joy [easily pleased!].

£1.39 isn't an NSD, though, and that's what I need to be racking up. Let's try again tomorrow ;)
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o

Recovering Spendaholic-That is a hefty monthly bill for fuel! Is your boiler efficient???
Ours was replaced last winter -complete new central heating/boiler and our gas bill for this quarter is half what it was last year! We will recover the cost of the heating in about 5 years I think-less possibly with the rising prices. Do check it!
NSD today-altho I was going to do a tesco spend with the voucher I didnt have it with me and I am 7 miles from tesco so it may not get done. I did an online shop for Asda last night for next monday as I have a free delivery voucher with no limit on it so I spent £63 on that when it arrives. Trying to get more organised as I want to save petrol this winter as I also intend giving up my part time job which id driving me mad. As long as I can manage I will be fine-I am not a greedy person. Lots more soup to freeze tomight. DD cooked spag bol but mine will keep til tomorrow as had tea at my friends tonight. Got half price halkf price chicken breasts at coop(yes h-p h-p at £2.50 per pack. bought 4 of those and unpacked them, wrapped in clingfilm and froze individualy. I was disappointed with the chicken I bought in coop last week as it tasted of fishmeal and normally the elmwood ones are nice. Ive ordered a free range one on my asda order-well worth the treat!

    NSD for me.

Have fished some shin beef out of the freezer, only 2 small bits, but going to throw it in the slow cooker along with a load of veg that needs using and see what comes out.
Also have a chicken carcass with, hopefully, enough meat left on it to make a chicken pie and then chicken and veg soup.

Hope everyone has a good day :)
