  • Thanks LisaLou!

Just back from a run on the Ridgeway with some friends. Gosh it's cold out there. Tea and cake (vegan as one of them is a vegan) afterwards. Also dropped in to a friends to deliver a card as they've just had a baby. Just put up my lovely painting in the lounge.

Had a very long week of work and college but my assignment is submitted, work begins on the next one now. Only 3 more and a project then I'm finished.

No overpayments, but I did pay £900 towards the credit card bill. That's reduced it by 25%. Will be able to pay more off against it next month, and then hopefully start the overpayments by March.

Also planning a holiday to Florida with a mate. We can get free accommodation so it is a little bit MSE, and after no holiday for 3 years it will be great!

  • Gosh this snow is a pain isn't it!

Had to get a cab part of the way to work yesterday as there were no trains, luckily it is expensable and one of my colleagues in the cab paid for it. Got a lift back to the station in the evening. Roll on Florida is what I say!

Had a very quiet week, spending very little, also got some expenses paid which offset the cost of my mobile direct debit which went out on the same day.

Had college cancelled today so I've been for a 7 mile run in the snow including Woodley parkrun (free 5k every Saturday, loads around the UK). Plans for rest of the day involve reading the papers mainly, I could do with nipping into town for a few things but I think I'll wait for the snow to go instead.

Roll on Payday on Friday. It's been a long month but I've managed it well.

  • Payday has arrived! Also some money I'm owed from my lodger (tonight hopefully).

Got a few spends lined up this weekend which I have been saving for a while - getting a key cut for the back door as I only have one, a new watch battery, new running shoes and some running tights, also some gloves using Next vouchers I have left over from Christmas.

Going to make another payment to the credit card shortly to get that balance down ASAP.

Got college tomorrow morning in London and then I must spend Sunday working on my next assignment, 3000 words on employee benefits in remuneration packages awaits! zzzz!

  • A productive weekend.

Paid in the money from my lodger, had a decent tutorial for college, and then spent a relaxing hour at the National Gallery.

Did a bit of shopping spending some vouchers and getting a new pair of running trousers. Also spent 4 hours on my assignment, 1000 words down and the rest is mapped out.

Unfortunately today has been rather busy so I've not had a chance to do any more on the assignment sneakily at work, but I'm confident of finishing it by next weekend all being well.

Must go for a run tonight and tidy my bedroom which is a bit of a pit!

  • Well a productive evening - shopping done, room tidied and laundry completed.

Got some stuff for the weekend, I'm off down to see a friend in Bristol, one of the jobs on the list is to thoroughly clean my filthy car in and out, and try to identify where there is water coming in. I think it might be a hole in the bottom of the car, which might want the garage looking at it.

Did another 500 words of assignment this morning, I got in at 7:30 and made the extra time count. Want it finished by the end of the week as I have a dissertation to start work on!

  • A good week to look back on.

Spent the weekend in Bristol. Thoroughly cleaned my car which had suffered from carting sand / cement etc from the builders merchants. It is now a lot cleaner and I am happy!

Bought some new running shoes - expensive! - while down in Bristol, but otherwise it was a very economical weekend. Went for a few runs, ate healthily and had fun seeing friends.

Have finished my 2nd assignment for Uni, just need to add in some references now. It's not due in until the 18th so I am well ahead of the curve. A mate has just started a professional qualification so we are motivating each other to work.

Weight loss has gone well, I have lost about a stone so far this year due to running about 25 miles a week and eating healthily. A long way to go but every run gets me fitter, healthier and closer to my target goal :-) A few of my friends are doing the same thing so every day an email goes round with what exercise we did, what weight we are etc, we are all working towards individual goals and it is a great motivator. 9 mile run today with a mate was longest for over a year.

Filled up with petrol this afternoon, used £13 of clubcard vouchers to soften the blow. Buying my work season ticket and all the garden stuff on my Tesco 0% credit card has helped earn all these vouchers as usually I only get about £3 in vouchers. Credit card balance is just under 2k, and I hope to get rid of some more of the balance before payday, getting £60 of expenses paid tomorrow which will come in handy.

Off to look at a few more diaries now

Well it appears my lodger is moving out early next month. Her reasons are a bit vague (a bit like her) she said it was personal, although I think there's more to it than that. She may just be a bit of a drifter!

Anyway, I have readvertised and have a few people interested already. Hopefully I will fill the room shortly :-)

I would like someone in soon as having a lodger has a real impact on me tackling the credit card, overpaying, going on holidays etc!

Not much else to say, spent yesterday at work doing my regrading, so hopefully I can move to a higher salary in September. Today I am meant to be going to the library to work on my final year dissertation but I might opt for reading the next module's course notes instead.

Running still going well, lost approx 20 lbs this year now, although I haven't run since Thursday so must sort that out later!

How long has the lodger been there? Do you set up a month to month contract, or is it for set periods?
  • just a month to month thing, had someone round yesterday and also someone coming tomorrow.

Nah, but I'm sure the extra income is helpful?

Do you ever run with a rucksack? I tried jogging home from work two weeks ago, but the current one I have wasn't at all suited (slipping everywhere, no real support)
