It's got to be one of the most shocking yet - mainly due to her age and how quickly she got into that much debt.

Feel really sorry for the Fiance too.

They've told her to sell her house and rent it back. With the £25k equity, she was told to offer it as full and final settlement of her debt, therefore writing off the other £27k.

    Edit: She's thinking about it.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Was anyone else shouting at the telly??! An attic full of unworn clothes. 30 pairs of shoes, half not her size. Designer jewellery and makeup.
And noone suggested ebay???! :D

There was no mention of the fact that she would probably be able to claim back the bank charges that made up £10k of her debt!

And when they tried her on the cheap makeup and then asked her whether to swap back the pricey stuff, they only gave her those two options. Cheap stuff or pricey stuff. No option 3 - yes I'll have the pricey stuff back please, use both, and when they've all run out I'll buy the cheap stuff?...

After series 1 (I think) they did one general followup on all the people who appeared in the series. Most were successful.

This epsiode was a bit disappointing really, compared to last week anyway. No real progress was made on the reasons behind her spending, can't help feeling she might slip back into her habits. And lots of shouting at the telly moments:

    1) We've reduced your monthly clothes budget to £40 What, with all those bags in the attic?!?! She doesn't need to buy clothes for ages! Or she could sell old ones on ebay and use some of that money for ones that fit her!

    2) You're not in £42,000 of debt, it's £52,000. "Oh, I forgot to include interest and charges in my calculations."

    3) No mention of the new car(s) and the fact that she couldn't drive

    4) Sell your house and rent it back. I thought these schemes were to be approached with a lot of caution, in terms of not getting market value for the house etc.

    5) You're getting lots of bank charges. You can claim them back!!!

    6) And it just has to be said again - no mention of selling all the stuff she's accumulated!

I've no doubt that a lot of this was covered off camera but the trouble is people watching it who are in similar trouble don't see that bit do they?! That's not what spendaholics is all about, fair enough, but they were going on about how she was over her overdraft etc and surely there could have been a quick mention of selling some shoes... 2 pairs would do it by the look of it  ... to raise the £200 to get back within the limit and stop the charges.

Rant over!! Lets hope next week's is more satisfying! ;)

    Don't forget.... :j

  • I nearly swooned when she said the debt was actually 52,000. FIFTY TWO!? On here salary too? I can't get my head around how she could get that kind of credit on her salary- wasn't she bringing in less than 10,000 a year?

I do wish they'd factored in what she could make from selling her unused clothes- they talked about selling the house long enough. Some of these fashion labels become collectors items, and in BNWT condition, surely could have been worth a mint?!
