Getting married September 2012!

Hello all,
Just wanted to say hello - I recently joined these forums because I realised that I really needed to get out of debt before getting married next year. At the moment I'm on course to be debt-free by August, in time for my September wedding!
Would love to swap money-saving tips - both our parents are being incredibly generous but I want to make sure we keep the costs to a minumum. We're looking at getting a marquee which is the most expensive thing - but I already have ideas for where to save on other bits!
We don't have loads of detailed plans yet (we've only been engaged a month) but am looking forward to planning a gurt big party over the next year...

Hi Liz and welcome. We have managed to get a marquee for a very reasonable rate. I think they cover Somerset if you are getting married anywhere near Bristol!
We have managed to get marquee (9x12 m), with linings, carpet and swag, starlight lining, dancefloor, stage for band, chairs, tables, 2 heaters, lighting, catering tent and a posh loo trailer for around £1700! We did get 25% discount tho for our wedding being out of season, but even without that it is pretty cheap!
We found our marquee people by searching on google- try and look at the smaller local sites, they may offer you discounts to try and get customers. It's Oakleaf Marquees if you want to check them out.:T0 -
