Can I dye my bag or is it a stupid idea?!

I've got a little blue Samsonite holdall that I use for work but the colour no longer goes with my new uniform.
Its the same as this one on ebay -

I really need it in black but can't afford to buy a new one, in fact black ones seem to be really rare and I haven't even seen one for sale.
Is there anything I can buy to dye/paint it black without totally ruining it or should I just forget it?
