  • A nice weekend away and managed not to spend much. Had the supermarket shop to do but was very good. Finally the new gate is in and paid for. Now for my next project - a new downpipe - wooppeedo. Oh to spend my money on something nice!
I have £68 in my ebay account - and about 18 items still to sell. Not that those will make much I don't think but pretty chuffed as I was aiming for £50.
I had a call about a project someone wants me to look at - got to put a fee proposal together.
It would be great if I could get more work in and could go back to what I earned previously. I'd loose my tax credits but still be better off and could pay more towards mortgage / savings etc.
Going to cancel my old credit card today - now on 0% so can relax and pay that off at my pace. Nothing will go on that card ever! No more moving house so I won't need to either.
Christmas is looming but I have agreed with adults not to buy presents so its about 5 kids only. Result!

Got some dedorating to do - will wait till winter when I can't get gradening but it requires wallappering - not my strong point but not enough for a decorator either. Urgh.
    May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin! :)
    March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j
  • Hah. Credit card cancelled - not that they make it easy. Offering lots of incentives blah blah - I cut it up though. So - no tempatation there.
Now to pay off the balance transfer.
Just looking into new curtain tracks as mine is falling down and I've only got single glazing. Flamin expensive (bay window) - £300. Argh. Another hard month lies ahead then. Seems there's always something. Hoping I can raise enough on ebay to pay for my new post box. Not that I can afford anything to go in it of course.......:A

  • Ebay is going well - about £90 on there which is fantastic. All accounted for already of course but and least its money made in the right direction.
I've got a shot at a fee bid on a project today which is the best thats come my way in about 3 years - gotta get this right. Ooh - to actually make a bit of profit at work............I may be able to pay myself from profit instead of my capital in the business - imagine that!!!:D
Better get those ebay items posted off - and get more on there - its the way forward - and I get a tidy house to boot!! Just think - I used to just put these things in the charity shop

  • Yesssss - Scottish Gas have been in touch - not only was their bill a load of cr ap and I don't owe them £615 ( told 'em......) - they owe me £42. Result!
How often do things go in the right direction eh? :D:D:D:D
So - combine that with my ebay fund and I'm good to go ( or rather NOT go - into overdraft!!)

  • Looks like I'll make about £100 on ebay instead of the £50 I reconed - fantastic. The dilema is whether to buy the post box I need for my gate or shove it straight into savings. Same result really as I still need to buy the post box thing as I do most of my shopping online( when I do any - but bairn's birthday is coming up - and christmas etc). Probably worth just biting the bullet.
I still haven't measured up for the curtain track as I know its about £300 and I was hoping for a month off big expenses - and of course those leaking downpipes won't mend themselves.......:(
One day all these house things will be solved - I've only been there 3 months afterall and I have done a lot without getting into debt.
Hey ho - better check my lottery numbers............:)

  • Well. Lottery is a waste of time obviously - but then I knew that.
So - three days till payday and can't spend anything - tricky but I only need milk and bread so thats ok.
The bairns birthday is coming up - not going mad as she doesn't need anything and grandparents / party will generate a huge pile of presents anyway. Its hard not to go mad but I shall be good!
Quote coming for the new downpipes - watch this space - hoping its not going to be hideous. 50/50 with upstairs so thats a bit of a relief.
The good news is I won that commission so I have work!! Not sure what that'll do to this years profits but its a good fee. Yahoo! Maybe I'll not be out of work afterall. Total bonus.
Need to get into my posh frock for a dinner in two weeks so its nil by mouth and no wine. That'll save a bit!!

  • I love you attitude and wish you well. One thing I thought of is are you getting the 25% single person council tax discount? Your seems really high.
  • Hi there!
Thanks for looking in. Yes - I am sadly taking the 25% lonely person discount!! - I live in Edinburgh and our council tax is really high. I think its so the council can squander it on unnecessary trams and the like.............grrr!
We already pay a huge premium on house prices - and the council tax seems to add to our woes.
The good news is I get Feb and March off and that'll go straight onto my card payments!!

  • Aha - just checked my spreadsheet - my mortgage is already below £32K now with my overpayments since May- and if I can manage an extra £400 on top of what I'm paying before May next year - I'll be below £30K - definitely going to aim for that!!!
Sadly the new downpipes both need replaced - £1400 - cast iron of course so I saw that one coming. Thats £700 for me to find. Hmmm. My dad said he'd help - bless 'im so I need to find about half that. Ebay here I come!!! I shall of course have to resist Tesco's half price wine offer for longer than first thought.........bah! ;)

  • Gah. Cat was ill so had to take it to the vet - £20 thank you. Hey ho - can't see her suffer.......
Payday tomorrow thank goodness. That felt like a really long month but I do have a new gate to show for it and another £216 off my mortgage. Only £84 in interest a month. Hate to think what I paid in interest on my whopping £290k mortgage on the last house. Not to mention the bills I'd face just now - bloomin' freezing that place. That reminds me - there Is £5k sitting in a bank account that I'll get my hands on in 2013 - hope the lawyers have it in a 'high' interest account! Keep forgetting about that because I can't get at it. And all because my ex is insolvent - grr.
Got to pay childcarer tomorrow - always a painful day that one.
