Sorry your feeling down DS, sounds like the ex is resentfull of an independent woman being able to stand on her own two feet? mine likes to see me suffer a bit because i've been able to maintain living in an expensive area ( all be it in a small house) & he's re-married,supporting a new family & living on a council estate! So he likes to run me down by cutting social contact with our children, saying unkind comments about me & building up his new wife & kids in our faces  I can honestly say i feel like my kids have no Dad & they feel it too. We find it hard cos we're doing it all on our own don't you think?
WRONG,i know, but i find i compensate for the lack of a loving father in my daughter's life by letting her get away with paying NOTHING for her keep, she earns more than i do & runs a posh car, expensive clothes & party lifestyle  I have sod all treats for me or my son just the satisfaction of trying to get MF on abysmall money :rotfl:Well i've certainly cheered you up haven't i ??!!!

Aw thanks both for your replies - really helps to know you understand - and I know you do as you're on here!!
Have maintained the moral high ground and not let ex see that I'm cheesed off. Thrifty - we deserve a - :A
But then..........I got some good news last night in my letter box........my tax credits for this year cover the OP for last year - so I don't need to pay any more directly back!! Total bonus! This year I've forcasted my profits as the same as last year which is ambitious but having fallen foul of underestimating them and having to pay back tax credits I won't do that again!!! So - thats my OP paid off!!
Fab - no tax credit help obv but thats ok - at least I've paid them back. Phewwwww :j
So. Savings from now on - I've adjusted my signature to show where I am and needless to say my spread sheets were updated immediately and once savings are up and mortgage OPs onging we're looking at June 2016 to be mortgage free!! If I have a job of course.....;)May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
This month is proving to be a really hard slog. I've got loads on ebay to try and see me through without any overdraft etc so am on course to break even - but its hard work. And I've no wine for the weekend - argh - disaster!!
Feeling a bit deflated as I probably won't be able to realistically save for the next two months as I've spread our holiday over two months and will pay that to get rid. I'll save harder after that to try and catch up to where I want to be but I'm annoyed that I didn't facor that in. Seemed silly to be making a holiday fund when I haven't got savings - but I see some sense in it when I get on top of life.
My entire life seems to revolve around saving and counting the pennies these days and has done for a long time now. About 5 years really ( since I had my child, bought a place with ex and it all went downhill!!) I can hardly remember what it feels like to have money to spare. Thats childcare costs for you!! Ach - she's worth it!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Finding it hard to remain positive as I'm so skint - I did make some money on ebay to see me through so not going OD at least.
Next two months will be just as hard as I get us a wee holiday but it'll be worth it - and nice that I can manage even that this year. Signs of improvement but small ones.
It's been a long month - a 5 weeker but payday brings a mortgage payment that'll take me into a mortgage that starts with a 2 not a 3 - I have to focus on the small things just now but thats something at least. :beer:May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
No startling lottery wins to report but I am as of now UNDER £30K in my mortgage!! :j Only just - but its progress!
Caw this is a hard slog. Feel like I'm going backwards some days - but my trusty spreadsheets had that good news at least.May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Well done you!! Always good to pass a big milestone on the journey0 -
Thanks Dawn. Some impressive OPs going on in your signature - well done you.
Looking forward to our camping holiday - despite the rain. Can never decide what to take to eat as camping cooking is a different ballgame. Beans on toast / savoury rice / barbeque ....ho hum. A culinary journey this isn't!! Must not go mad in the supermarket!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Managed to escape the weather's worst on hol but I'm back at work and its dismal out there again. Depressing stuff.
Still plodding along. Tax credits didn't turn out to be good news - still owed the money as the amounts have changed (conveniently forgot about that) but I've been in touch and am paying as before - down to £1100 now and will be clear by Jan.
Sadly business not looking good and realistically I can't see me lasting another financial year. So I'm hitting the debt hard and it'll all be gone by then. Its saving thats hard but I've looked into benefits / what I'd need to earn as a minimum and if I can get a part time job during school hours I'll survive on £1K per month - not unachievable.
Have drawn up a disaster scenario and am ready to tackle the 'big talk' with business colleagues - I'm ready now.
I will not get into business debt so - bar a miracle- time is up. My year end is end of march so I've a while to plan and try and save what I can - which is very very hard just now. Hoping to get something out of the business but daren't rely on it. Gulp.
Being positive, I've felt trapped in this job for so long now - if its forced upon me I can maybe find a new path which would be exciting. Bit daunting at 45 but hey ho :undecidedMay 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Lots of repayments due in Aug - holiday, tax credit OP as usual and paying for some photos I had taken of the bairn.
My spreadsheets to keep me feeling buoyant - watching the amount come down.
Then there's the mortgage OP spreadsheet........wish I could do more but keep looking at the end day. Can't wait till Sept/Oct next year when I get a £5k amount to put in as a lump - I'm going to enjoy that day!! Hope its been getting some decent interest for the past 3 years (as if). If it were 3% - maybe £500? Ah well - its a help anyway!!
Hey ho - keep plodding on.May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0
