You came to the right place.

The first thing you need to realise is this is managable. It really is. Take a couple of deep breaths and realise that with a little sacrifice, some patience and a hell of a lot of planning, it's not that bad.

In finding a solution you will learn how to avoid it in future and in doing so, you will be a wealthier person and you may even repair your credit history and get that mortgage.

By the way, I know it looks bad, but £18,000 isn't realativly THAT bad. I know it's like saying having gential warts is better than HIV but with a reclaim of charges, getting on top of it all and some good old fashioned hard-graft, sweat and some tears along the way, it will be an experience you will not forget.

You are definitely in the right place. If you want support to get you through this then the people round here are very well placed! Although it's a bit scary find out exactly what you owe - follow all the advice above and then post an SOA and the 'experts' will pick it to pieces and help you make a plan of action. It's a bit of a journey of self discovery this whole debt thing but you can really learn to be good with what you've got. Good luck.
