I have another box in the bedroom which we use. We would like to get the sky box that allows us to record onto? Do we need to pay the £100 or can we swap boxes .??

read a thread here that can allow you to get the skyplus which is the one that records for free, i think you call them up pretending you want to leave.Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%

Just gave them a ring. The chap said its a standard fee off £100 to buy the box and a tenner a month. I said well i already have a second box which cost me something like £40. So if i bought the SKYPLUS box, what am i to do with the spare one. He was like sell it.
Does anyone know how i can get the SKYPLUS box free or even just cheaper than what they are asking? Any one been successful?0 -

Never heard about getting it for free but the cancellations department do have a number of offers on at any time and previously they had a reconditioned sky+ box with a full years warranty as normal for £40 including installation. I went for this offer and actually got a brand new one.
One word of caution... by accepting a new subsidised piece of equipment you tie yourself in to another 12 month contract where the phone line must be connected... for me it wasnt a problem but need to know.
It is only the cancellations department that can give these offers but be a little careful with the call as if they "get wind" that you dont really want to cancel and you really just want the offer they may just cancel the account rather than put you through (this can also happen if they cant get you through to the cancellations department).
When I got mine I had to phone up to subscribe to sky and then said I wanted to cancel in the very same call to get through to the offer from the cancellations department
The sky boxes are your property and so you are free to do with them what you want, most either sell them, use it as a freeview box or stick it in a cupboard in case one of your other boxes break downAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Rang SKY again and its still a no no. Will still cost me £100 and a £60 charge to do it....whistle!!0

Ring them again and cancel your subscription. Tell them that you have bought a freeview box and intend to get NTL or something. The RETENTION TEAM may make you a better offer.
You can always subscribe to Sky again in a day or two.
