desparate and terrified

Options
Hi all,
I'm feeling sick with worry and would love some advice. My DMP is set up ready to go, but basically i couldn't change the bank account my salary is paid into on time and so the unarranged overdraft i was in was brough up to date automatically when i got paid - leaving me £600 less this month.
I've rung cccs and we've pushed my start date back a month as I cant afford my first payment this month because of it.
Basically I only have about £50 to live on the next 3 weeks. I've not yet made my mobile bill payment and car insurance monthly payment this month. I really only have enough money to pay one. I know I'm going to have to ring both Orange, and Direct Line and explain - but I'm so scared my car insurance policy is going to be cancelled mainly, and then my phone may be cut off.
Does any one have any experience of missing one payment - or making it late? What is the likey thing the companies will say - do they take drastic action for one missed payment?
I'd love some advice please, otherwise I know im going to have another sleepless night.
thanks
:(

I'm surprised CCCS haven't advised you to open a new bank account unconnected to your debts. An overdraft is a debt and should be in your dmp. Your monthly payment to it must be affordable.

Your car insurance is much more important than other bills.
  • They wont cut your phone off over 1 missed payment, they will try to take it again, then ring and text you for a few weeks.

  • Just talk to them and explain that you're not happy to find yourself in the position of delaying a payment but that's its unavoidable and you felt it was better, and more responsible, to forewarn them. They won't cut off your phone or cancel your car insurance over one delayed payment especially if you make contact with them.
