Just started sewing.Best palce to buy thread?

Options
Hi I have just got a sewing machine from freecycle and want to start sewing again.

My first project is to shorten some curtains, that I have been given, but don't know the best place to buy thread from. I have been to Dunelm and Hobbycraft but I am finding everything so expensive. I would like to put new heading tape on the curtains too as the tape that's already on them is very soggy and the threads are pulled through too much.

Any advice please?

TIA

Dx

Try your local habadashery, or craft shop.

Thread???? I thought the English referred to it as cotton wool?

    Good Luck

:rotfl:I was very conscious of calling it thread as most of it is synthetic. We, English, usually refer to it as cotton !

Do you have a local market? Sometimes there is a haberdashers stall.

I have seen thread-in a limited range of colours-in supermarkets. Wilkinsons might have some too-or try Pound shops.

Sometimes charity shops will have a basket odd reels of thread.

i use the nylon thread - like fishing line that way you dont have to use different colours and change reels and the likes.
