They're factory recons / 30-day warranty, but 72p/GB inc VAT is a good price. And these are the current, faster version too. And Crucial are a very solid make.

Cheers. The 30day warranty is pretty poor though; I wonder how the SOGA would treat these?
They don't come with a specific existing fault, so if a fault developed outside of the 30 days, how hard would you have to fight to get it fixed/replaced?0 -
This Kingston 96gb for £83.43 might be a safer option.

That's cheap. Thanks.0

Yeah, I like the price, and as I'd been umming and ahhing about going SSD for my new lappy, I took the plunge for the 256GB one (and max out the RAM at the same time). I figure with no moving parts, it's unlikely to die early if it lasts the 30-days, Crucial's kit is generally pretty awesome build quality, and they claim they're all soak-tested. Let's see!0

Wow - well I ordered on Bank Hol Monday, SSD arrived today, so I'll fit it tomorrow. Hoorah!0

Are you reinstalling or going to clone it?0

Are you reinstalling or going to clone it?
Actually not sure yet. Probably a fresh build, ideally without all the OEM rubbish, but yet to see ow that'll work out ;-) Clone would be great, but the original hard drive is twice the capacity with some silly HP extra partitions, casper wouldn't be interested. In fact I'm going to be interested to see how well the 'recovery disk' will work, or even if it'll work!0 -
Installed today - seems to work a treat, somewhat fast too. I'm happy.0

I wonder why they dont have enough confidence in their product to warranty it for more than 30 days.
Rather a worrying sign.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -
I'm shopping around to build a SSD/i5 based system and was seriously tempted by the 256GB, but was concerned to read of quite a few people suffering Crucial SSD failure beyond the 30 day period (someone reported experiencing two). I know that the majority will be fine, but I suspect I'll go with the OCZ 120GB Agility 3 from eBuyer which has better read/write speed and a full warranty for £129.There's love in this world for everyone. It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
