Remortgaging and acceptances

Hi,
I would like to remortgage, end of deal in Oct and Halifax remortgage rates are not as competitive as others. The problem we have with our remortgage applications will be the fact that I work for companies on contracts whereas my wife has been continuously employed for 7 years for one employer. I just wonder how best it is to approach the mortgage application, should I just say I am in permanent employment (current contract approaching one year), our joint salaries are high in relation to mortgage required and LTV is at 60% odd so I can only see us failing on my employment lengths and not sure how to approach this. Also, do multiple applications affect your credit score? I just want one of the deadline deals that are floating around currently, Halifax rates are just pants at the moment
Thanks
John
