Getting Hounded By Barclays

Hey all,

I've got 2 loans with Barclays, worth about £20k.I've got an outstanding bank charges claim worth about £2.5k. They've transferred my account to a compnay called CLS as I've missed some payments, and in the last 2 days I've received calls from Barclays, letters from CLS plus now text messages asking me to call them.

I've already told them I'm not going to discuss it until the claim (which is going through the court) is sorted, and they've obviously transferred it staright to this debt collection agency.

Any advice on how to handle it? I've already tried politely telling them, now I'm getting texts on my work mobile!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Current Pay Off Target : £1500

Hi Oberon lovely  Here's a tip for you that might be worth a go...Do you do banking with Barclays online? If so log in, go to your profile if you can and change your number.
I did this with Lloyds. Put a number for a takeaway three valleys away that gave me food poisoning for four days.
    Hope that helps chuck!

'Fraid not, as they've got all my info work & home, plus I no longer bank with them - they kindly shut down all my accounts thanks to my reclaim case.

I'm going to phone this CLS and tell them 'I got your letters, and your calls, and your texts, now this is what I told Barclays, and this is what I'm telling you. Clear off until the court case is done with, then we'll come to an agreement.'

Ah that's a shame...What I'd do is phone AND actually write to this CLS and quote the telecommunications Act at them and say if they keep on you'll have them for harrassment - if you google the act, you can find it.
And I'd reiterate what you'll be doing in the letter - not them calling the shots.
Makes me wonder if you can't claim charges off debt agencies too - as their fee and charges mark-up is worse than the banks!

Just spoken to them, they wanted all sorts of details like 'are you working?' do you rent your home'. I answered all of their qustions and told them politely that once the court case is fisished we'll come to an agreement. I'll follow that up in writing too. Can't decide whether or not to charge then £25 every time I have to field a call/letter before the court case is sorted....

Obi - I had problems with Orange Summer last year. They were sending me all sorts of cr*ap after promising to freeze the account and investigate.
What I did was invoice them everytime I had to read another bill/ moan from them. I did it properly just like a business - copied OH's actually! lol
Put Name, address, columns, reference numbers, VAT the lot. And a covering letter saying payment forthwith within 28 days else interest added on. I rung up pretending I had to bill Orange and didn't know where to send the invoice. They gave me name, address and a person!
    And I got £50.
    Go for it gal!
