Hey has anyone here have experience with one of the many deal sites? I didn't use one so far but some deals are really good. So are there any tips. As far as I understand there's the possibility that you buy a deal but don't get it, because there aren't enough people buying it??

Hey.
I use KGB deals as you get the voucher straight away and it isn't based on a certain amount of people signing up.
So far I have had a voucher for soft play for £1 instead of £4. As it was my first purchase they gave me £5 free to use within 72 hours so I bought 5 more, which means I got £24 worth of soft play vouchers for £1!! It says one voucher per person but the soft play centre doesn't seem to care.
I had a 2 course meal for 2 for £11 but as my friend signed up using my link I got £6 off so paid £5!!
And most recently today I have bought a deal for 2 pies and pints for £4.50 as a quick lunchtime treat for me and the hubby.
I would highly recommend them :-)0 -
I use Groupon and KGB. I've always received my vouchers, takes upto 24 hours after purchase. I did have a bad experience with a hairdresser, last Friday, who charged me extra - I contact Groupon and within 1 hour they rang my sister back and I had the additional money paid back into my Groupon account as credit. I recommend both sites.0

I use these websites quite a bit and normally find them really good. Livingsocialdeals is another one that I find great, at the moment they have half price tickets for Legally Blonde which I'm buying for my Mum and sister.
I am a bit annoyed with KGB deals at the moment though. I had ticked not to save my account details, but they seem to anyway. A voucher I purchased earlier in August is for a company that doesn't seem to exist. I went to use the voucher (it was for a Benefit make up kit through a company called Celeb Beauty) and I was going to order the kit today. The voucher had said it didn't expire until 25th October so I knew I had plenty of time. I was a bit concerned when the site didn't exist so I checked my kgb voucher and my KGB account online and it all looked normal. It was only when I checked my online banking that I saw I had just had a refund from KGB only yesterday. They never informed me that the deal had been cancelled and I had no voucher anymore. I'm not sure what would have happened if I had planned a day around one of their experience deals and actually turned up. I think after this experience I will give KGB deals a miss.0 -
I bought on for Saks hair and beauty in Nottingham. £29 indian head, facial and cut and blow dry. I had problems booking because at the time I was working full time and they would only do mon-thurs as it said ont he voucher but the salon is open late so i figured I could finish early and go but that wasn't the case as they only allocate lunchtime slots to this offer! I was made redundant so I booked the next available appointment which happened to be nearly six weeks away! Now I'm starting a job so I can't make this appointment or any other they have available and the voucher expires at the end of september. So I feel slight cheesed off with this salon. If they offer a voucher they should allocate more slots to it. Afterall I am a paying customer regardless of how much I've paid. I won't be using groupon again.
My advise is always cheeck the small print on everything!0 -
I use Groupon KGB and Living social a lot. I'm having my hair cut next week on a kgb deal, (3rd time) and a meal out tomorrow night with my oh on living social. This is a restaurant that we have been to anyway and liked, so this is a real bonus:)
I have a climbing wall session booked with Groupon for my dd , and have used cinema tickets for Cineworld over the summer holidays bought from living social.
There are some really good deals around, but remember to always read the small print. There will usually be some restriction, for example with restaurant deals, -it might be a set menu offered, or exclude certain days/times. Just a case of using your common sense really.
I have had refunds from Groupon twice, when there has been a problem with the merchant. I have found them efficient and attentive to customer service. Maybe I have just been lucky!
Also, had reason to request a refund from KGB for a wine offer which never materialised. Although it took a while they too refunded my payment.
I have used Groupon in London a few times , and in Edinburgh this year as well when we there on a short break.
A tip for you.. As soon as you receive the voucher, get booking.
I always do this,- particularly for restaurant meals and hair appointments. Nine times out of ten i get the date i want.

I use Groupon and living social, just had a wonderful spa day at a 5 star local hotel for the grand sum of £30; these are £129 if bought direct with the hotel and included lunch, wine, coffee and pastries, as well as 2 treatments. Have never had a problem with any of the sites, and would definately recommend. As said above, as soon as your voucher is received, book it as they will be HAMMERED!! Thankfully I choose carefully and always read the expiry dates. Use with caution but they are well worth it.0

I've been using Groupon and KGB for about 4 months now and have quite a few deals, usually foodie ones and exercise ones. All in all I'm really happy with them. The prices are really good value and they offer a variety of things to take advantage of, so you can usually find something that's of interest. Like the OP has said, there's usually some restriction, but I'd say that's only to be expected because it's a deal. Some deals will obviously work out better than others but if you're prepared to take a fairly relaxed approach to it all, you'll do very well with them. I find that it really helps me have a social life whilst on a tight budget and because they usually have a long expiry date on them, there's always something to look forward to.Virgin CC £1,738.84 Barclays O/D £32,012.24
