Sheets would be fine, cheap Ikea fleeces work well as filling and are quite big. Im about to make one for OH's bedroom but its only a small window so it won't be difficult.Clearing the junk to travel light

I just did some for my niebour she bought some 101 Dalmatians curtains from the charity shop also a girls pink/purple fleece for the middle, also charity shop and it was all done in about an hour. Total cost about 5 pounds.
She did a wonderful job at trimming my hair, so "fair exchange is no robbery" as they say.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

Make sure your curtain poles or rails are up to the additional weight. If not it's often more sucessful to add a second, lighter rail closer to the window and putting seperate curtains up. Remember that it's air being trapped between layers of fabric that provides the insulating effect so two or three loosely hanging layers are more effective than one more rigid sandwich effect.Val.0

On the second one it was a very long thin window and the quilt was to heavy and kept falling down so I added it also to the sides and the bottom. that worked fine
I first started making these when my children were very young as one of them used to wake at the first sight of daylight, if he was awake the whole house had to be!Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50

If you use the velco they just come unstuck. That said in the REALLY cold weather the one in the bathroom stays put. It's freezing in there!
When the boy was young used to keep them up all the time otherwise he would not nap in the day, we were in North Carolina at the time so it also kept out the oppressive heat in the day timeEbay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50
