    Congratulations on your job offer.

Oh, and out of interest have you got any tattoos?:D

How shocking Jarndyce - Asda employing people with tattoos!
Whatever is this world coming to?!
  • I dont mean to cause any offence but in an ideal world we could tell a current employer we intend to leave before we actually do but the reality is ( and in my case it is ) i couldnt tell my current employer i intended to leave before i did through concern of ruining any relations with them.
It definitely wouldnt go down well if i told them i MIGHT be leaving as to prepare them.
I am sure some members on here might have the luxury to approach their employer even if they intend to leave but havent yet got a job but equally alot of members would be in a position like myself where i would only tell my employer i intended to leave only when i had something to go to !

    Thats my position anyway !

I agree with those who are sayig you should not resign your present job until the job offer is unconditional. Offers can be withdrawn if something comes up in a reference such as your sick time. Hope it all works out for you

why are you asking for advice if you have already determined your course of action?

    Hi,

I started working for Asda a little over a year ago and didn't receive my Contract of Employment until the first day of Induction!

Might be worth ringing them and asking when you can expect yours. Then you could make the decision as how best to advise your current employer.

    Good Luck,

Your training week will not be monitored for performance it's basically training for the role, even people transfering over from ASDA superstores/living have to complete the weeks training as the two businesses run differently, (ASDA supermarkets is a different ltd company to the superstores) one word of caution if your handing in your notice is to check your not on a temporary contract before you hand in your notice, I know some are temps as no one knows how much a store will take before it's open and trading.

I don't understand. Surely telling your employer that you have been offered another job is almost the same as handing in your notice. Why is the former not good but the latter fine?

For what it's worth, you should do the first option and tell them you are leaving without actually resigning until you are sure you have a job to go to.
