Bankaccount and BR...

Hi
Sorry another noddy question from someone new to potential BR
I have a bank account with NAtwest - it has no overdraft but lots of money saving benefits such as breakdown, mobile insurance, etc etc
If I have never had any debts or over draft with the natwest, will I be able to keep the same bank account if declared BR?

You wont...the only bank accounts bankrupt freindly are co-operative or barclays
Natwest will close the account soon as they know about bankruptcy..We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
The problem with an electron card is I travel a lot by train - buy tickets then employer re-imburses via expenses - and elerctron cards cannot be used on trains as they are not online. I use a lot of areas with unmanned stations so cannot use a ticket office.
Electron cards cannot be used offline I believe. Hence the reason I was hoping to keep my non overdraft natwest which has never been in debit and who I've never owed money to
I know barclays do a proper debit card feature on their basic account however barclays are my main creditor!0 -

Co-op not do visa debit cards for there cash minder acc customers (we have 3 accounts with them)
Also you could just get a pre paid credit card and load it up at post office etc
Hope this helps0 -

Hi, I meant they now DO visa debit cards.0 -
Does not help. Any prepaid card does not have raised numbers and the chips in them don't allow offline authorisation - its only proper debit cards that do. So you can't buy tickets on the train and if an RPI gets on you get penalty faired for not having a ticket despite your only means to pay being not valid!0

Just to clarify.
Co-Op provide a full Visa debit card with their Cashminder account. It is not an Electron or a pre-paid card.
I have used mine at train station ticket machines, on the internet and over the phone and had no problems whatsoever. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

All them check the balance at the time - so electrons work fine as well.
The issue is when you buy a ticket ON THE TRAIN the machines are not connected so they process the payment unless there has been a problem in the past and the card number is barred. They download all the transactions at end of day and then process them in an overnight batch.
You could buy a £200 train ticket with a zero balance technically however that is the only way to do it when you have to buy on the train.
That is why electron, solo and pre paid cards can be used in the ticket offices but not on the train.
I HAVE to be able to buy tickets on the train for my work to be practical so I need one with off line authorisation unless I carry £100s in cash with me0 -

My co-op Visa debit has raised numbers.0 -
There are drawbacks to going br and if the CO-OP visa is not your answer, guess you are going to have to pay the old fashioned way... CASH. If not, you are probably London the I guess the only other option is the bus.
To get an account like that at Nat West you probably pay for it, so therefore it is not a basic account.0 -

But the Co-Op card is not an electron, solo or pre-paid card.
It is a FULL Visa debit card, the same as you would get from a 'proper' Lloyds bank account, or an HSBC or NatWest account. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN
