Anyone have experience of either of these products. I'm about to move to an address where both are available and the UTV package is a lot cheaper.
I was with UTV Internet a couple of years ago and their performance was poor, I'm just wondering has it improved any or am I better spending a bit extra and going BT.
Sky and other LLU providers don't resell the BT Infinity product so they can only offer 2mb.
Thanks

Speed wise they will both be the same with BT wholesale being the supplier. I guess it comes down to customer services. I've always had good experience with BT. Infinity is pretty good. I'm too close to the exchange for Infinity now but I use it at the GFs. Unbundled is a no go. The worst experience I had was with talktalk.
BT is expensive for unlimited usage.
For speed and unlimited usage it has to be virgin. Provided you live in the area.0 -
Moving out of a Virgin area and their National Broadband is poor, so no go there.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

That’s because you move to copper on BT infrastructure. It’s the much the same with other that use BT wholesale.Moving out of a Virgin area and their National Broadband is poor, so no go there.
In a cable area it is fantastic.
I'd probably go for infinity. £10 extra a month is steep tho.0 -
I know all about the technologies, I work in the telecomms field, as for UTV, I just know they aren't going to be great service wise, just looking someone to confirm or deny it!Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0

Sorry I didn't know you had experience in telecomms.
I'll ask around in work and see what come back if you like. We have had the odd BB discussion and it seemed a varied bunch. No doubt someone use/used them before.0 -

I have infinity and it is very good considering I could only get about 1.5mb with ADSL, a quick look at the UTV site looks like the same price if not more than BT, what deal are they offering you?0
-
The UTV deal is a minimum of 24 months which put me off straight away.0

I get nearly the top end of speed with ADSL, I was wondering what the value was with Infinity, beyond the shift in upload speed?0
-
Just been told I can't get Infinity as I am 2.3KM away from the exchange

I am currently getting 1.2 MBit/sec0
