DCA Query

I have an overdraft with Abbey which I have been making token payments to for the last six months. At the end of November I received a letter from a company called Equidebt saying that my account had been passed to them and they were requiring payment of the full amount. I assumed this was the DCA that my Abbey o/d had been passed to and I sent them a letter explaining my circumstances. I also amended the standing order to pay them the token payment each month.
Yesterday I received a letter from a company called Buchanan Clark & Wells regarding the same Abbey o/d and saying that they had been instructed by Abbey to initiate formal debt collecting proceedings.
I'm now really confused as to who is dealing with my case and have I been stupid in providing equidebt with information about my situation and maintaining the token payment to them.
Any advice great appreciated!
Thanks!
