Where to find/buy/make door curtains

Hi all,
I was hoping somebody here on the old style board could help me out with the above?
I have recently moved into my first house (3 months ago) and finally finished buying everything I need now, apart from curtains. I have put up some blackout blinds in the bedrooms to block out the streetlights from outside. But downstairs I only have like a wooden slatted blind on the living room window, and I'm wondering if this will be enough to keep the heat in during winter?
My other thoughts on heat escaping is through the doors. My front door is almost straight into the living room, there is a small hallway, but there is no door on the frame there. Also the back door is in the kitchen straight to outside.
I have £45 left in my 'house buying fund' and am trying to find some nice thick curtains to cover the doors. Anything I can see that is within budget seems to be a bit flimsy really. The front door has a window above it so needs to be quite long.
Can anybody please share where they managed to get hold of their door curtains from please? Or share any ideas on how I can get some with that budget?
Many thanks

i made a door curtain out of cheap heavy velvet from ebay with a thermal lining as my door is very wide. For the back door (which is normal width but very tall as has a window above) I will buy ikea curtains as they are 3m long and line with thermal lining that I will just sew across the topPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

hi sKiTz
have you tried charity shops they can be very good for that type of thing, as long as you arent picky about patterns and colours
have a look on the preparing for winter thread loads of peeps on there use fleece and old or cheap duvets for lining curtains or even just as curtains
i would recommend curtains for keeping in the heat they make a massive difference i am sorting mine all out beginning of next month to try and stay warm
i just checked ar*os and they have curtainlinings (not thermal tho) for £4.99 66x90 and curtains £11.99 66x90
just type in curtain linings on the search at the top then click on th £0-£12.49 and they should come up
HTHkonMarie and fabbing all the way
