wedding dress from ebay

I am getting married in December and am trying to find some reasonably priced wedding and bridesmaid dresses.
Originally I was looking at Light in the box, but have read so many bad things about them I am going to stear clear.
I have found a dress on ebay under a seller mali.dress. But again it is a company based in China. Also, the same dress is on offer by another seller also based in China ( I am presuming these are probably just the same company going under different names).
I was wondering if anyone has ever used this company or brought their dress through ebay.
Or if anyone could recommend any other places I could look for dresses.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of friends and I have used http://www.sexyher.co.uk/ (Excuse the iffy name) for ball gowns / prom dresses. They also stock wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.
They are based in Croydon and we went down for a 'trying on session' booked through the web site, we must have tried on most of the showroom, including a couple of wedding dresses :o
The sizes tend to vary from style to style but come up a little smaller than average in general.
The dresses are made in China I believe and the showroom is nothing fancy but worth a look if you're not too far away.
Other mates have used their mail order but if you do this you need to read all the conditions of return or exchange properly as I don't think you get long.
    HTH.

I've no connection to this company by the way :D
  • There are mixed views on getting your dress down the ebay China route.

They probably are different companies using the orignal designers photos- from what I know the china companies make copies so the picture you see is not one of there actual dresses (someone please correct me if this is wrong). I had a friend who went down the China route and was happy with her dress, but there has been horror stories on here, so if you do go down this route please research the company alot.

Where in the country are you? Im sure people will be able to recommend sample shops etc close to you.

If you're going through ebay I'd look for a second hand or sample sale dress instead of buying from China. That way you can see photos of the actual dress, often on a bride and you can get some great deals on real designer dresses, not copies. That's how I got my dress for an 18th of the price it is new!
  • Thats great help thanks guys, ill have a look at sexy her and also for sample dresses. Would they state that they are samples?.
It s so hard to know who to trust when buying on line.
I dont know about anyone else but I just cant justify spending hundreds on a dress that I will only wear once!
Also, would you buy the bridesmaids dresses for them or ask them to buy the dresses themselves?
    Thanks again guys.

When I bought mine they did say that it was a sample dress. Check the seller's feedback to see if they are reputable or if people have had problems with them before. I totally agree about not spending hundreds on a dress you will only wear once! I'm buying my bridesmaids dresses, that is traditional in this country. They will incur other expenses like travel etc being in the wedding. You can look out for a good deal on them too though!
  • Just had a look at sexy her and they`ve got some great bridesmais dresses. They also had the same design of dress that id seen on one of those Chinese ebay companys.Although they are a bit more expensive, but not that much!
  • Thanks Purple.Sarah :)
