  • I`m thinking - kimono-style dressing gown Silk is quite warm, especially over flannelette PJ`s!
Also thinking - sew them onto a cheap fleece.
Also wondering - why on earth you acquired them in the first place!

Cool that you want to use them, but was wondering why you wouldn't just ebay them and make some money?

(Also curious about the back story!)
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!
  • Hi, I would sell them individually on ebay if you have the time and effort, or a wholesale lot would be an idea - and you can also keep some for crafting. Have a look at how much they are going for for an idea too. Sewing onto cheap fleace for a quilt sounds lovely. Also some women like a silk pillowcase because it is supposed to be better for the wrinkles, never tried this myself!

It would be sensible to sell - if you did I'd go for individually maybe with a fixed price buy it now option and emphasise the amazing quality and thickness of the silk - but if you could make a garment then you have to say to yourself, when will I ever have the opportunity to own and wear something so gorgeous and luxurious again?

I'd make a quilt for your bed. Either as a loose cover for a thin summer weight duvet or use the duvet as batting and stitch straight through it. You could use a fleece blanket as a backing. Then Ebay any left over to cover the cost of the fleece and duvet.

a silk quilt/ eiderdown would be lovely - use the silk both sides and sandwich a cheap duvet between - it would be warm, soft and super luxurious feeling

Silk is a bit of a pain to sew with but a teflon foot may help with puckering if doing them on the machine..my first thought was knickers but reading they're only 4" wide you'd have to have a tiny bum :rotfl:
  • Or a tip I got from an old-fashioned "tailoress" - put tissue paper between the layers of silk, makes it easier to machine-sew!
