Writing to DCA

Hi
I'm going to write a letter to the DCA that burton passed on my debt to, for no apparent reason. I want to ask them for a reduced settlement.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to stucture the letter. I currently owe them £250 what would be a suitable request.
Any tips would be most grateful:D

Have a look on the National Debtline (link at top of page) website. There are some good template letters that you can use.
In respect to what you offer and what they will accept, this will vary depending on the DCA and, almost invariably, they will refuse your first offer out of hand. I would reccomend that your first offer is slightly less than you can afford and be prepared to negociate. We read of 'Full and Final' settlements of anything between 25% and 90% of the total debt.
Do NOT offer more than you can afford and make sure that you get DCA acceptance, in writing, to include the words 'FULL and FINAL SETTLEMENT'.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I was thinking batting £150.00 at them to see what they say.
I thin anything would be a bonus really, there only asking for £9.00 a month which is a bit radio rental as i was paying burtons £25.00 a month.
They must not like the sound of me0 -
I think £150.00 would be a fair offer. Are they still adding interest and charges?
Go for it - it will get this debt off of your back. :beer:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
