Soup accident - don't do this!

Made lovely carrot & orange soup today. Got to the point where I needed to blend with a stick blender, foolishly I kept it on the heat when I put the blender in the saucepan.
The blender created airpockets in the soup which exploded boiling hot soup onto my arm and face.
Had a massive blister come up on my wrist despite running it under cold water - ouch. Was very lucky with my face, it hit me near the eyes but fortunately did no lasting damage.
Won't ever blend soup (or anything else) whilst it's still on the heat.

Yes, it's a lesson learned but I'm sorry you were hurt. Anyone who has ever made saag (pulverised spinach) or any other thick vegetable concoction will have sympathy.
I always let the contents of my stockpot cool down before going in with the hand blender.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

The exact same thing happened to me a few years ago with blending soup and I still have a faint mark on my arm where it splashed me.
I find Mepore dressings are great for burns and also grazes, they allow it to breath while still healing and the part that goes over the burn does not stick, it stops any infection getting in after the blister bursts.
Most chemists will sell them individually for around 20p each.
Hope your arm feels better soon.

Thanks for sharing, never happened to me but I do this regularly with hot sauce I blend up for the kids. I will wait for it to cool in future judging by the posts here!0

I've never done this but am no stranger to sticking spaghetti sauce on too high and then being unable to approach it to turn it down without getting blistered because it's spitting on the cooker top like Vesuvius about to erupt. I always seem to forget this next time until it's too late - the experience evidently has a degenerative effect on brain function too
