Rock climbing gear

Anyone know any good places to buy rock climbing gear? and any advice on buying a harness?

Hi Bobhawke,
outside.co.uk are generally very good for climbing gear and often have some great deals and cotswolds.co.uk is another good one.
As for advice on buying a harness - you really need to try it on and make sure it fits well. The staff in climbing shops are always very helpful and are usually climbers themselves, so can offer good advice.
I would also advise getting one with a good amount of padding - depending on the climbs you are doing, you could be wearing it for a few hours. Some shops will have a rope and karabiner hung up in the shop, so you can try the harness on and have a "dangle" and get a feel for it.
It is also worth making sure the harness has enough adjustment to allow for layers of clothing.
