Thanks OP, I noticed the chopped ones are the same price also. Long delivery (3+weeks) but good saving as we use a lot of tomatoes and I think you notice the quality in the finished dish if you use a premium brand.
  • Thanks! I was only looking at these yesterday in Tescos, they have gone up to £4.48 for a pk of 4, shocking!!

  • Tesco have a but one, get two free on tinned tomatoes at the moment - £3.49 for twelve tins, so it works out at less than 30p a tin. Can't remember the brand, but it's a decent one.

Still at least 13p dearer per can than I am used to paying :D but then I do not generally buy named brands.

  • Well I wouldn't pay 46p a tin for them - no matter how premium a brand they are. They're OK but nothing special.

I always buy when they are on offer - in BULK so I don't have to pay these rediculous prices.

It's crazy when you can get Passata and 98% tomato based jars of stuff to use on pasta or in bolognaise for often half the price. We can buy whoopsied fresh tomatoes for less and use them instead.

There is no shortage of tomatoes so why are the prices so high?

Not too many years back tomatoes were always one of the cheap staples. Then overnight prices more than doubled now many have gone up five fold and more. CRAZY!

I got some the other day - the brand is La Romanella.

The lady at the till was puzzled by my trolley full of tinned tomatoes and Branston beans until she saw the total I paid!
