I think I should explain a little more,

I had a 2.0l diesel mondeo which I paid £900 fully comp insurance last year, I have 6 years no claims and never made a claim. This year my insurance has gone up to £2,000 (I have shopped around), I have sold the car and have a little run around which cost me £150 but has broke down once already. I need a half decent car to get to work which is 18 miles each way and I am worried this car I have now is not going to survive the winter.

I decided to pay off my overdraft and some other debt with the money from the car and some I had raised from selling stuff I didn't need like an xbox 360, ipad 2, iphone 4 and so on, as I was just paying the interest on these debts and was getting me down.

This was before the car broke down on me and I realised how bad the car was

I now have a lot of my debt gone but stuck with a banger of a car and don't know what to do :(

Is it worth doing a bit more of a sell-off, and just sticking with the shonky runaround until winter? 3 months of salary plus the cash from the sell off plus the scrap value of the banger (£100 or so if you drive it to the yard) should be enough to get you something halfway decent for the winter months, without the £1500 in interest!!

Yeah I think this is the best way
