Flexible new deal/ work program

Can someone help me. Really need advice. I have been on flexible new deal and claimi jsa for 18 months. I have had a terrible time on flexible new deal where my provider literally went out of business and i was messed around. The last month i have been still on flexible new deal with a new provider whom have been helpful and actually did something. However i have recieve a letter from the job centre to attend an interview meeting with them on wednesday i have asked whats it for and just fobbed off saying its just a review. I have read so many scare mongering stories about work program and flexible new deal. I am 36. Could someone tell me what this interview could be?

1 could it just be a switch from flexible new deal to the new work program? I heard that flexible new deal ends its contracts by the end of august.

2. On the new work program which i assume i will be on how long is it before the job centre puts you on a forced work program? I heard that with new deal 25 it was after 18 months but has this been scrapped? Ie the new deal no longer is used but now just the work program.

3. I have been advised that the new work program which i assume i will be on at the moment there is no forced work at the moment anyway. I just need to know when the job centre puts you on forced work with things like groundwork etc or has this been scrapped. I am really really confused and worried. I have been looking for work but no joy tonnes of experience but get knocked back due to it.

It could be 1 but why worry about something thats in the future, just go to teh interview and see what its about.
  • I am a adviser on the work program and as far as I can see there is no "forced work" involved anywhere. If a adviser thinks it may be of benefit then they could arrange it but that is as far as it goes at the moment. That may be subject to change in time though

  • What is the intensive work activity program is this still part of new deal/ work program. The old information i have is that you must have not been working for 18 months and you are forced on new deal 25 to go on it. Says 13 weeks working for nothing. Can anyone advise please
  • can you help me on the query about work intensive program something about 18 months not working. I am just so concerned about wednesday that job centre will force me to do some scabby work related work for my jsa.
  • If they have used the words "work intensive program" it could mean that they expect you to spend more time looking for work (with the help of a provider). As I have said before as far as I know there is no mandatory work placements on the work program.

You will not be working for your JSA

it could just be a review however it is likely to be to transfer you onto the work programme as i believe anyone still on fnd when the change over happens is destined to go straight onto the work programme. i think it is possible for different providers to do things differently but here it is a cheapo version of fnd. you have regular appointments just like before but i have been told it is not with an adviser. i have been told you are left to do it yourself. things like interview techniques are now somehow done on a computer rather than practically in a classroom of people. the provider around here doesnt seem to know their a**e from their elbow at the moment. for example i was told i would get a phone call from them last wednesday. i waited until after 4pm and then called them. i was told i didnt get a call because i had been in that week doing jobsearch. while a work placement may not be mandatory as such if they decide you need one then you will have to do it as the rules say you have to do everything they tell you to.
as already described earlier this wont apply to you as you are on fnd and go onto it straight away but to answer your question, long term unemployed get refered after 3 months, under 18's after 6 months, under 25's after 9 months and over 25's after 12 months. so logically once you have been on it you will get 3 months breathing space afterwards and then go straight back on it unless they have something else planned for people who have done their 2 years.
