Hi, i went over my credit card limit a month or two ago. This was because i was using my cc excessively while natwest were sorting out a replacement bank card for my normal student account (which they took ages doing). I went over by ~£70 - normally i dont use it for anything other than petrol which i pay back every month to show i can borrow and repay

Anyway, i noticed the £12 charge and phoned them up saying this is totally unfair, its clear i have more than a couple of grand in my student account which i cant use - its not as it i dont have the money to pay it etc and they removed the charge.

Yesterday, i recieved a letter (dated from july  ) saying i have been given a default! !!!!!!!

am i screwed - what do i do?!

Thanks

Ring them up & talk to them.
Explain your situation & ask them to remove it.

    Have you missed any payments?

Let them know about it. It's probably just a computer sending you a template letter.

Normally if they were going to apply a default to your credit file, they send a letter giving you 14 days to settle the debt, after which time a default will be placed on your credit file if you have not settled the outstanding amount. I suggest going to the Bank and speaking to them, but be sure to get information from them in writing in the event of the default being applied.
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    £2 savings jar £300:D
Total credit card debts £1250:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: - Will I ever learn!!
  • is it a 'default' or a 'default sum' of £12?

If its the latter, it may just be the paper wprk for the £12 over limit fee.
