Why pay Hunter prices ? I struggle with the width of wellies but i got some recently at Asda which fit perfectly, they're the Barbara Hulanicki ones, they were £14. Bright purple fern effect but they had other patterns too, black and white leopard print and a Cath Kidston type floral pattern. They're the only ones i've ever had that fit me ! Very MSE !

Agree, I wouldn't say Hunter Wellies do a wider width- I'm not to sure of the entire range and if they have a specially designed wider calve boot, but I've not seen it, its not going to be a mainstream model.

There are some styles of other brands which are wider width- can't recall the name of the site but there is a well liked wellington site which seems to pop up on the boards nearer the winter time, its worth keeping your eye out, they stock boots which are a tad cheaper then Hunters (many people dislike Hunter boots because they have found they can split with wear). Will post the site if I am able to remember it.

    hi

have u tried uttingsoutdoors dot com
i have looked high and low for hunter wellies as my cheap but cute matalan ones split and leaked at a festival - yuk...so been advised that hunters are best

i got a pair in teal for £25 but only size 3- but they have some funky ones for £45 + just plain black for £36
ones with wider calf are called huntress and they retail on the site for £49

u could also just google and see if anything comes up cheaper?

I think if u want a pair that last then go for hunters but if u just one to wear a couple of time of the year for short walks then go for cheaper high street own brand but do remember that some high street branded ones are just as expensive as sale hunter wellies

    good luck

Hunter do the Balmoral wellies which are wide calf fitting, but they are only available in normal wellington colours -green, black and brown. I know Hunters are expensive, but they last for years, i walk 7 miles a day in mine (7-8 months of the year) and they are 3 years old and still got loads of wear left in them.
As someone else said, you can get the shorter hunters which will accommodate most calf widths.

I bought the neoprene ones thinking there would be plenty of stretch in them but there is still a fixed band round the top so they are no use for wider calfs. Good luck in your hunt. I ended up getting muck boot wellies that are short, fab and the kids sizes (i.e. up to a 5) were only £25.
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!
  • I also have wide calfs. The website below has the calf sizes for the wellies. Looking at them I would need the adjustable hunters as my calf is 45cm. HTH

I bought a pair of Huntress ones a couple of years ago, they are black ones. I wear them to death and got them from here: -

I collected mine from the shop on the way to a day out in York - any excuse !!

The short Hunters might be ok for you too.

I have large calves and I ordered a pair of hunter adjustable wellies and they are perfect. They have a large pleat down the side which opens really wide and you fasten where you want with a buckle. I tried them on in John Lewis first but ordered online from gardens4less and they came the next day. I can wear welly socks and still tuck jeans in. I tried on Short hunters and they were still a little snug and I worried they'd be uncomfortable with welly socks. The adjustable ones come in different cours- I went for pink though they were mud coloured by the end of the festival!! I have tried other shop bought wellies before which have done the job, but these feel much better quality and have better grips. The huntress are also meant to be suitable for wide calves but the adjustable ones for me, were much better. You really should aim to try some on before ordering though- alot of high street stores sell the short ones and John Lewis and probably other large dept stores will do the adjustable ones
