My eldest son will be 9 next month and for his Birthday he is being a mascot for Chesterfield FC (£150 ) this will be his combined present and party though, as it includes a new football kit and signed football. I have said he can take 4 friends to the game and then will go to KFC afterwards. He will have a few other cheapy prezzies from us, but only a few bits and bobs from sales and £1 shops.

at an indoor play area which was about £7 per head, but only invited a few people as she didn't have too many little friends at that age.

You might  but my sister is paying for my son to be a mascot at Sheffield Wednesday for the home match against chesterfield and its nearly 3 times as much :eek::eek: and no kit included  my Dad has bought him one for his birthday at another £60. But, she's happy to do so and I'm sure he will love it - he's had a season ticket for a couple of seasons and is gettting to the age where if he doesn;t do it now, he never will so truly a once in a lifetime experience.

For my daughters first 2 christmases and her first birthday, about £300. Way too much for a child that does not even understand and will grow out of and lose interest of things so quickly! Guess it was the excitement. Her second birthday (this year) was the first one that I have lived aone and paid my own rent & bills, so it over halved for presents at around £120 and a small tea party for family at our house.

For me it varies depending on how much money we have/what they want. It hasn't been increasing with age so far, but maybe that'll happen soon! I've never done parties, as my kids prefer a day out.

This year I spent £30 on my daughter (but I also had a £25 Amazon voucher which I used, so it was £55 of presents). She was 7, and she's very hard to buy for as there is never anything she wants. We also took her bowling and out for a meal, so that was another £40 on top.

My son (5) we spent about £45 on, plus a day out to a kids theme park, which was another £70.

I try to get everything in the sales or when there's great offers as you get so much more :)

We're on such a tighter budget this year i think we're just going to see what offers we can get.

We tend to spend less on birthdays and more on christmas, all 3 of my girls have their birthdays between november - march so pretty close to christmas anyway.

dd1 will be 9 in November, she's definately been spoilt before with parties and big presents. This year she's getting a few smaller & practical gifts and having a sleepover (so no cost there) and then i will take her and her cousin out for dinner and to the pictures (hopefully using a code from somewhere!). I'm lucky in the fact she's not asked for anything expensive, she wants new slippers, dressing gown, a few books and a moshi monsters membership :money:

DD2 will be 5 in march and she's having a big party as she has never had one before. Hopefully a hall and bouncy castle will work out cheaper than a pay by child party, i'll just make own food and decs etc. Her party will be her big present and perhaps a couple of needed things again.

Dd3 will be 3 in Feb, probably just a tea party in the house for family and no idea for gifts - she probably couldn't care less anyway lol.

Christmas used be a massive huge money spending affair in this house, i shudder at the thought now of how much i used to spend

Perhaps 150 all in each child this year.

My husband is the worst child of all, he always wants something expensive :rotfl:

I too think £150 is actually a good price for all you're getting, especially the cost of football kit alone, plus a signed ball and what a memory :D

Year before last he got an Xbox360 (£180?) and last year the Kinect (£120) and other things, I think we spent £60 for his birthday though and he chose to go and see HP@TDH1 at the cinema instead of having a party.

This year we're going to try not to spend so much since he already has everything - pretty much. He wants a DS3D and we found one for £115 at TescoDirect, we'll ask his Grandad to buy him a game for it. I'm thinking that we should get the DS for his birthday (he'll be 9) at the end of November so for Christmas we can get him games for it.

It's hard when they still believe in Santa, he's an innocent and trusting sort of a child for his age...only child of older parents you see. I make excuses for Santa if it's outrageously expensive, lol, but each year for the past four we've said "This is probably the last year he'll believe in the magic" so we want it to be special while it still can be :)

yeah, for what's included, it is actually good value for money, but still a lot of money for me to pay out in one go :o. As well as the new full kit and signed football, we get 4 tickets for the match, some programmes (with his name in) and some photos too I think.
He is counting down the days till the day!

For £400  SWFC do tour and meal for 3. 3 tickets in executive seats (these are rubbish - we've sat in them before and have very little leg room), photo with fave player, photos with captains and match officials. I'd much prefer they did something simpler like Chesterfield.
  • DS is having his birthday party next week. The party cost about £140 inc entertainer, food, decs and cake. There are about 20 kids coming. The present will be about £40 - £50.
DD is having her birthday party the week after. Her party is about £100 inc prizes, entertainer, food, decs & cake. There are 14 kids for that party. Her present will also be around £40 - £50.
when they were small enough for them to have joint parties it saved a fortune, but they're older now and just don't want to do the same thing or invite the same friends. It could be hard having their birthdays just 2 days apart, but to be honest its not like its going to be a surprise - i get the whole year to save up!
