Yes I do go out on the town every now and again but never spend £70. Drinks £1.50 a pint free entry before midnight. Taxi's shared between 2 are £2 each. Maybe my town is just cheap. https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13181725842&v=wall and http://bullitburton.biz/whats_on.asp
I've heard Burton's a good night out actually. Never been yet.
But I take your point that it is possible to enjoy yourself without breaking the bank. Moneysaving has a lot to do with changing the way we do things, rather than not doing them at all.If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
To be honest, As a mum, and having loaned my child money I would be absolutely livid if he/she was going out spending £300 a month
and not paying me back just a quick as they could.
It's nothing to do with the money, its the sense of responsibilitymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Almost £4.00 per pint plus at least £4.00 entry to each bar/club... it all adds up!0

£4 a pint? I'd become teetotal if I had to pay that price! lol0

my advice would be to get a p/t job in a local pub - extra cash and if you're working you're not spending. Also if you work in a pub in the town centre, you can often get free drinks at closing, and then go out after with friends from work/meet up with friends already out - clubs will often give free/reduced entry to local bar staff as well. This way you can clear your debts without feeling like you're wasting every weekend - its true that you're only young once! (From experience would avoid working in the spoons tho!)0

If you don't pay off any debts, that's another 6 nights out a month. If you overspend by another £300 a month, you can go out every night and be completely oblivious to your debts.
On your income, played carefully, you could probably get to about £25,000 of debt over 6 years. Go for it. Saying that you are young as an excuse for your foolishness only works once.
Mind you, it would be a hell of a debt to clear once you wise up.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Why bother with the car? If you're only spending £40 a month on fuel, you must only be doing about 170-200 miles a month, and it's costing you about £1 a mile!!!
Flog the car, pay off your debts and buy a push bike with the rest.
Simples.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Simples.
I agree. You get the bus to work and presumably don't drive on a night out when you're drinking. So what do you actually *need* the car for?0 -
Many thanks for your advice... how long do you think before I can be debt free?0
