Another Quidco question

Options
I'm pretty new to Quidco so some advice would be appreciated.

I just got a quote for Car Insurance (£257) and Home & contents (£162) from Lloyds TSB via Quidco...it mentions a £120 cashback on both.

Am I being stupid or does this really mean I get car insurance for 257 - 120 = £137 and home/contents for 162 - 120 = £42!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If so can I do this every year when it's up for renewal?

    YES but...

Just remember that you should never count on the cashback until it is in your bank account.
Not that I have had a problem.
I've had the £70 HSA, £30 AOL, £7 Computer Shopper etc...

    "Cashback is not guaranteed"

Therefore, it's upto you. Either just go with your lowest quote and then use Quidco for a bit more off.

Or find the best combination of lowest quote, highest Quidco cashback and hope you get the money off.
  • I found I got a good quote with the Prudential car insurance they offer, it was only £100 cashback, but the initial quote was lower.

You'll get more if you get separate quotes for buildings and contents - you don't have to use the same company.

    TOP TIP....:money:

I just seperated them...Still both with Lloyds TSB...previously £162 for both..

    NOW....Buildings £100.13 (minus (£120 cashback)...
    NOW....Contents £52.50 (minus £120 cashback).....

Is that right...£6 cheaper than if COMBINED and they'll be paying me?

They'll be GIVING me £87 to get insured!

  • I managed to get a contents insurance quote from lloyds of just £84 back in september and at the time there was £90 cashback... so i tried it!

Lloyds are well known for their tracking problems and EXTREMLY slow turnarounds but finally, after a dispute, it is showing in my quidco earnings as sucessfully added! although the payment date is still unknown...

So in answer to the OP it does work, itll just probably take months to go through! :money:

I used Quidco in September to insure Buildings and contents as 2 seperate policies.
    Contents £116.00
    Buildings £130.00

Once it had gone through I called Barclays to get them to price match as stated on their website. I got £50.00 cheque back and a reduction of £5.50 on Buildings quote. In November I got £190.00 paid into my Quidco account ( 2 x £95.00)
Result I years insurance for .50p!!!!

    Give it a go.

Do NOT rely on LloydsTSB. I have been waiting for £110 cashback from Quidco since 10th August and they are still having probs with LloydsTSB and I am still well out of pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks..but even if I dont get the cashback it's still cheaper than the £240+ I'm paying at the moment.

    Next Question.

What's to stop you cancelling when a year has passed and then renewing online with the same company or a different one and getting more cashback?
