Legal Downloads- Monthly subsription - Unlimited

Hi Everyone,

Could somebody please help?

I'm after a legal download site with unlimited downloads for a monthly fee. DOes anyone know of anywhere that do this?

I'm a Mobile DJ and the cost of MP3's etc kind of hits me heard in the pocket...

I only thought of napster as a place where I used to download illegally about 13 years ago when i was about 15 lol.

Are they all genuine tracks? £10.00 a month for unlimited downloads is very good I think!

Could be wrong, but it sounds to me like the fee is for unlimited streaming, not for downloading MP3s. Note that the pricing link below shows "Purchase tracks (from 49p) and albums (from £4.99) in MP3" as one of the features.

you are correct erasion - i signed for the 30 day trial which i will cancel after and make sure the bank don't allow any transactions. It weren't that clear until you go into the account bit after signing up. im not downloading or streaming anything from there because they charge you to do it per track if you cancel after 30 days.

Its quiet annoying to be fair... think it would be a good idea to set it up as it seems noone does it as yet.

I know emusic.com did this unlimited download thing back in the late 1990s/early-2000s when I originally joined, which encouraged me to try out a lot of new bands, but they ultimately changed to to the standard pay-per-download model.

I can't say for certain, but I suspect that now the music companies have become more digitally aware (as have consumers, for that matter) they would not risk an unlimited-download strategy as it would be routinely abused.

The only recent scheme I know of this nature was Nokia's comes with music promo which allowed unlimited downloads with one of their phones, albeit in a DRM-protected format (i.e. not MP3). A couple of friends of mine bought phones with this deal (which was an annual subscription) but I believe it has now been discontinued in the UK. Might be worth checking with Nokia.

They have two different products at Napster now. They have the unlimited streaming for £10 a month but also the unlimited downloads for £15 with DRM so if you cancel then all your music stops working.

No link, but have a look at the site. You might need to phone them but they definitely do it or at least they did when I signed up, which was not that long ago.
